[Press] Usine Nouvelle – Epsilon Composite: Partner in the modernisation of Cameroon’s electricity system

Nice article in Usine Nouvelle magazine highlighting the export successes of French companies such as Epsilon Composite, EDF and our partners Nexans and Sicame Group.

The article highlights that our innovative advanced carbon fibre core conductors technology has been selected to equip a new high voltage power line in Cameroon. This project represents a major step towards improving the country’s electricity infrastructure.

HVCRC® reconductoring in Montenegro – 110KV line for CGES

Beautiful aerial images from our latest HVCRC® reconductoring project in Montenegro, and interesting feedback from Elnos Group site manager Luka Šaranović on this HVCRC® installation in a very difficult rocky landscape.

This 110kV line connects the Perućica hydro power plant to the capital city of Montenegro, Podgorica. The HVCRC® reconductoring will not only extend the life of this solviet-era power line but also double its capacity, while reducing electrical losses and solving sag issues.

Congratulations to the team involved, from design to installation !

Energizing Montenegro: reconductoring with HVCRC® Conductors

Advancing the modernization project, Elnos Group teams in Montenegro are currently installing the cutting-edge HVCRC® conductor as a central component of the 110 kV TL Podgorica 1-Danilovgrad-Perućica.

They are installing 105 km of these high-performance conductors along a 35 km transmission line route. The conductor’s characteristics will provide much higher power transmission, resulting in up to 30 percent more energy transferred from the Perućica hydropower plant to the Montenegro power system.

SMART CABLES PROJET

We are glad to announce the official launch of the SMART CABLES project!

This ambitious collaborative project is led by Epsilon Composite, in partnership with Arts et Métiers ParisTech – École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers, ICGM / Université de Montpellier, Sicame Group and Resoltech.

The project will allow the development of breakthrough innovative highvoltage cable solutions, to enable network operators to increase their power transmission capacity and control their networks reliably and sustainably.

We thank RTE Réseau de Transport d’Electricité, Elia and Nexans for their support to the SMART CABLES project, as well as POLYMERIS and Pôle S2E2.

This project is funded by the FranceRelance, France2030 and European Union NextGenEU programs, with the support of Bpifrance.

HVCRC® ULS river crossing in Vietnam (220kV reconductoring)

Aerial video of a HVCRC® river crossing during a reconductoring project in Vietnam, on a 220kV line for Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

HVCRC® ULS 520-60 (Warsaw size) was used for this 1 km river crossing on the Song Lô river.

“ULS” stands for “Ultra Low Sag”, because this conductor uses a special composite core made with a higher grade of carbon fiber.

The ULS core has an increased tensile resistance (3 000 MPa) and tensile modulus (146 GPa), as compared with the standard HVCRC® core (2 500 MPa and 123 GPa respectively).

The conductor was stranded by Nexans, with a composite core manufactured by Epsilon Cable in France.
